K-12 Chinese Lessons
According to other current research, the best age to start learning a foreign language with efficiency is early adolescence, about 8 -13, and the more motivated the child is to learn the new language, the more successful he/she will be! We use systematical (12 books with supplement material) approach to satisfy K-12 students’ demand in learning Chinese. Motivating them to be interested in Chinese language and Chinese culture is our first priority.
Our K- 8 Chinese lessons get student ready for high school Chinese as secondary language so they can take our AP Chinese and be ready for AP Chinese Test and SAT II Chinese test in 10th or 11th grade. Pinyin system of learning will not be part of the curriculum until kids can manage PHONICS for their native language, English, Spanish or other languages.
Standard textbook for K-7th grade is Zhong Wen, published by Jinan University in Guangzhou, China. For 7-10th grade, we use Integrated Chinese, published by Cheng-Tsui in the United States, and you can purchase those textbooks and workbooks via our online store.
We focus first on Chinese as a spoken language, and students’ listening comprehension so they feel they have accomplished something when they can communicate with their teachers and others in their community. Furthermore, we teach Chinese characters, their correct order of strokes, inputting Chinese in computer, and increase their vocabulary so their reading comprehension is on the raise. Lastly, when student master about 1,000 words, we start teaching them writing in Chinese. Chinese Grammar is taught along the way of listening, speaking, reading and writing in Chinese.
